We’re proud to announce that Regeneración Director Nancy Faulstich was one of eight recipients of the 2021 Phil Rather Award for Leadership in Healthcare for Building a Culture of Health, sponsored by the Pajaro Valley Community Health Trust.
Regeneración is honored to receive this recognition of our work to avert a public health disaster, right after President Biden established a new Office of Climate Change and Health Equity and over 230 editors of medical journals issued a statement on the health dangers of global warming.
Since 1999, the Pajaro Valley Community Health Trust has been honoring Phil Rather’s legacy of service to the community.
This year, the awards were reformatted into a formal soiree setting, taking place Saturday, September 18 at the Seascape Golf Club. Attendees enjoyed a sit-down dinner and were invited to participate in a meaningful tribute to the lasting impact of Mr. Rather’s work and those that have followed in his footsteps.
Numerous community nominations were received. Awards were granted to those who made the most outstanding contributions to health in Pájaro Valley.
The other Awardees were UC Santa Cruz, (Colligan Clinical Diagnostic Laboratory), Watsonville Campesino Appreciation Caravan, Paulina Moreno and Paz Padilla from Community Action Board, Erica Padilla-Chavez from Pajaro Valley Prevention and Student Assistance, Tamara Vides from the City of Watsonville, and Dr. Wells Shoemaker, who received the first ever Phil Rather Lifetime Achievement Award for Leadership in Healthcare, for a life and career devoted to creating health equity and wellness for all.
